The competition uses steel.  We use Delrin — an excellent replacement for metal.  Unlike steel which rusts, causes friction, vibrates, causes fatigue, and needs constant greasing, Delrin offers very low friction, no vibration, and high-wear resistance so it minimizes pain in your arms and shoulders.  Additionally, it weighs only 4.8 lbs.
