ProCAT Winner Suite — Steno Edition
ProCAT Winner represents over four decades of industry experience and a tradition of many industry firsts. It is the most robust and feature-rich computer-aided transcription available for the court reporting industry.
It offers the most desirable features yet is very simple to use. Transition to Winner for new users is very simple due to the similarity of its “custom” keyboards to those of other CAT products. Additionally, user RTF-formatted notes, steno dictionaries, and transcripts may be imported from other CAT systems into Winner.
ProCAT Winner (steno edition) has been designed specifically for court reporters who use a stenotype machine to produce a verbatim record of a proceeding. It is available as a subscription or a perpetual license.

- Technology — ProCAT is proud to be at the forefront of information technology. Our tradition of applying leading-edge technology to our products started when we opened the shop. In 1982, we believed in the power and potential of the PC platform, and we were the first to create a PC-based CAT system. Recognizing the critical role that Microsoft Windows will play in our lives, we incorporated this technology into the industry’s first 16-bit CAT software in 1993. As Windows technology has evolved, so has Winner. We introduced Winner2000 in 1998 as the first 32-bit CAT software. Winner 2022 is the latest version of Winner.

ProCAT Winner has adopted the popular look and feel of the Microsoft® products to ease the transition for first-time CAT users. Updating to Winner from earlier versions of ProCAT software is a breeze because it accepts the old command structure. ProCAT Winner also has alternate keyboard layouts that simplify transitioning from other CAT systems to Winner. These alternate keyboards are designed to behave like your old software.

- Realtime—Realtime for the Rest of Us! ProCAT introduced the first portable real-time software in 1986. Since then, we have continued to add intelligence to our software to help you produce a “cleaner” transcript with minimum effort.
- ProCAT Winner’s automatic number processing continually scans the realtime text to locate a sequence of events that would trigger the formatting of numbers (either numerals or words). This process automatically formats telephone number, Social Security number, dollar amount, measurement, caliber, date, and time. It is important to emphasize that there is no need for the user to change their writing style to accommodate the number conversion. ProCAT Winner does it automatically!
- An automatic conflict resolution agent monitors the translation and traps the homonyms. Then, using a knowledge base, it selects the appropriate word to complete the sentence. The knowledge base grows as a user uses the software.

- The morphological analysis controls the word endings. There is no need to predefine every word. Enter root words and word endings and let Winner connect them.
- AudioTrack™ is an automatic sound recording and synchronization feature that works in real time. You can activate this feature in real time to record the spoken words and then play them back while editing to proof your transcript.

- Form Fields — Form fields are placeholders in your include files. You can replace these fields in an include-file with the actual name from a database. This feature eliminates the need to repeatedly enter the same text into the editor.

- Note Scope — From time to time, it may be necessary to scan a note file to search and translate only a portion of a steno file. The Note Scope function has been provided to enable users to create an excerpt or merge several note files into a single file. Note Scope also provides:

- Importing & Exporting — ProCAT has been a vocal supporter of data exchange using a standard format. Winner supports data import and export using pure RTF and the variation adopted by the RTF/CRE pact amongst the CAT vendors. Winner supports the following export formats:

- Backup and Restore — No matter how reliable a computer may be, keeping an accurate and complete backup of your files is still necessary. Winner offers two backup methods:
- Archive Wizard is the easiest file backup and restores program by far. It is designed to be very simple to operate. It is based on Microsoft’s wizard technology. It simply walks a user step-by-step through a file backup/restore process, and it will automatically compress the files in the universal zip format.
