Setting
up Denoto / Lexview
Denoto is a ProCAT software title that allows you to
broadcast a transcription session to other computers. There are two main
methods of accomplishing this; either via the Lexview (the internet), or
through Denoto (LAN, WAN, and direct connections). The following will
detail the specifics of each setup.
Denoto
(The local setup)
Requirements
Certain things are assumed to be setup and working prior to trying to use
Denoto. These things are outlined below.
1.
A valid correctly installed NIC must be present in the
transcriber’s computer.
2.
TCP/IP must be installed and configured correctly for the NIC
referenced in #1.
3.
The transcribers PC must be connected to a valid and working
network. This can be as small as a direct connection between two PC’s or
as large as a WAN.
4.
Winner v8 or v9 (optimal) must be installed and configured (will be
discussed later) correctly on the transcriber’s computer.
5.
Windows XP or Windows 2k must be the OS in use by both the
transcriber’s computer, and the destination computer.
Setup
On the transcribers computer:
1.
Start the Winner software
2.
Click on the RT/Translation button.
3.
Click on Preferences
4.
Click on the Internet tab.
a.
Active Internet Link should not be
selected (it can cause an error dependant on the situation if it is).
b.
Server should be set to Local
c.
IP Address should be set to the
transcriber’s current IP address. Instructions for how to find this can
be found below.
d.
Port No. must be set to
8001. This number should never be altered for this kind of
setup.
5.
Click Ok
6.
Start a RT session. This step must be done before the Denoto
user’s try to Connect to the session.
On the Denoto computer:
1.
Start Denoto (also call Lexview by the shortcuts).
2.
Click on Preference
3.
Input source must be TCP/IP
4.
Server IP Address must be the
transcribers IP address.
5.
Port must be set to 8101.
6.
Click Ok
7.
Click on Connect
8.
Give it a Case Name
9.
Give it a Job Name
10.
Select a Layout
11.
Click Ok
Looking up a computers IP address:
1.
Click on the Windows Start button (the bottom left
corner).
2.
Click on Run
3.
Type in: command
4.
Press the Enter button, or click on Ok
5.
Type in: ipconfig
6.
Press the Enter button
7.
The IP address will be listed there. Write down this number it is
the number used in both the above sets of steps. Keep in mind due to a
variety of factors this number can and will change at times; because of
this situation it may be necissary to look up your IP address before
each session.
Lexview
(The Internet setup)
Requirements
Certain things are assumed to be setup and working prior to trying to use
Lexview. These things are outlined below.
1.
A valid connection to the Internet must be established.
2.
Appropriate hardware must be installed correctly in order to
facilitate #1. Meaning both the modem or NIC and its drivers are
installed correctly and working.
3.
TCP/IP must be installed and configured correctly for the NIC or
modem referenced in #2.
4.
Winner v8 or v9 (optimal) must be installed and configured (will be
discussed later) correctly on the transcriber’s computer.
5.
Windows XP or Windows 2k must be the OS in use by both the
transcriber’s computer, and the destination computer.
Setup
On the transcribers computer:
1.
Start the Winner software
2.
Click on the RT/Translation button.
3.
Click on Preferences
4.
Click on the Internet tab.
5.
Active Internet Link must be selected.
6.
Server should be set to Internet
7. IP Address should be set to the IP
address provided by ProCAT.
8. Port No. must be set to 8001.
Unless a different number is provided by ProCAT.
9. Click Ok 10. Start a RT session. This step must be done before the Denoto user’s try to Connect to the session.
On the Destination computer: 1. An Internet browser capable of supporting Java must be started. 2. To connect to the ongoing session at any time enter the IP address provided by ProCAT for the destination.
