Which Intel Processor is Right
For Me?
Intel's processor
line is now more diverse to address specific market needs. And the market needs range from a
energy-efficient, low horsepower sub-notebook to powerhouse, 17" TFT notebooks with a surround sound system.
Here is some information for you to consider when you are purchasing a new
computer for use with your Winner software.

Pentium
Xeon:
Xeon processors are intended for network servers. This product
line offers the highest throughput, but they are not available for the
notebook computers (at this time). However, for a desktop/server environment
it offers the best performance. |

Centrino
(Pentium
M)
According to Intel® "Centrino™ mobile technology represents
Intel's best technologies for notebooks." However, we believe
in selecting a "hardware" that meets the demands of software
applications. Computer-aided transcription systems tend to be very
resource intensive. They require serial ports, parallel ports,
multiple USB ports, and a lot of memory. Although, the M
processors may offer an acceptable entry level platform for our WinnerXP
users, it is not powerful enough to meet the rigorous demands of a voice
recognition engine (WinnerVR). |
Yes
Higher speed processors are highly recommended. |
Pentium
M models 770 and 780 (2.13 or 2.26GHz 533MHz FSB and 2MB L2 cache) are
recommended |
Celeron
( D and M)
This is a low-end processor that lacks in speed and
throughput. It may be used for simple scoping/editing.
We do not believe this product will offer an acceptable performance
level to power CAT users. |
NO
May be acceptable for basic editing. |

There are many more factors that must be
considered when choosing a computer to meet the demands of your
business. Please consult other TechTips on "Minimum Hardware
Requirements" for additional information on selecting a computer that
will meet the minimum software requirements.
