How and When to Save a Transcript? Editing is a time consuming process. It is very important to follow a few simple steps to assure a trouble-free operation. Editor offers several features that will ensure the integrity and safety of your transcript. The following sections describe the procedure to properly configure the safety nets in the Editor and some simple step to follow during the editing process to properly save your transcripts. Setting up the Safety Net Editor may be configured to automatically save a transcript, at a predefined time interval, and to automatically create a backup copy of a transcript. These features are independent of each other and they offer different levels of safety. Follow the procedure listrd below to enable these features:
How and when to save a transcript The Autosave and Backup features described above are designed to create backup copies of your transcript. Backup files may be relied upon for recovery of lost or damaged transcripts due to software, hardware or user failure. However, using the "Save" command properly will minimize the risk of data loss. Follow the following instructions to periodically save your transcript. You may choose one the following three methods to save a transcript.
Editor displays "File Saved" on the status bar after the user has used one of the above three procedures to save a file. The save procedures described above also cause the editor to back up the original file to a .BU and then store the changes in a new .TRP file. The Save features described above store the changes made to a transcript into the file that is being edited. To store the changes made to a transcript in a different file, the user may use the the Save As command. This feature enables the user to store the changes made to a transcript in a different file thus maintaining the original file unchanged. The Save As command may only used to create a new copy of a transcript. It may not be used to store the changes made to a transcript to itself.
